I’m humming with excitement. Y’all have round-about asked me, directly asked me, indirectly pondered, or made some noise for years to me about “wanting to do what I do”. What’s that old phrase? You can lead a horse to water... & 2 decades later she’ll drink? The lightbulb is glowing.
And maybe even more than “Unabashed Apparel Rides Again”, -Unabashed Apparel is blossoming into what it was always meant to be.
What I’ve loved most have been the times I’ve made custom gowns for incredible women. Meeting them, friendship blossoming, dreaming with them, and spinning a frock full of the essence of their dreams. And while I’ll always do a bit of this when the mood strikes, I’d love to teach you how to weave the smoke of your dream tendrils into what you’ve always longed to wear.

Whatever stage you’re at is the right place. Together we will start at the beginning -this first step is the most important. I can start you on the road of learning how to design and draft for most anything but what I deeply desire to teach you is how to design and create for your daily joy. We live out our dreams slowly through our daily steps. Just as the journey of our every day builds our dreams.
What I do is different from grabbing a pattern and sewing. Purchased patterns are great but for me, everything starts in my imagination, what do I want to wear? Why? I believe in beauty and function. I create or drape my own patterns so that what I envision is what I wear for my daily joy and life of dreams. And I wear the shit out of my handmade clothes.
Journey with me and learn the subtle secrets of design, the history and relevance of fiber selection, the knowledge of custom pattern drafting, the elegance of custom draping, and the tiny changes that make fit, well, fit. AND as a bonus learning the whyfores of custom body block and pattern making, we emerge with a blueprint of how, and in what order, we sew.
